In short – We’re really, really happy with the work that was done and how Mirela works with her customers. We looked initially for a local contractor to finish our basement and found MPREX in Acton. Throughout the entire process the best way I can describe it would be that it just felt easy and straight-forward and the end result was great. I’ll break down why:
Firstly, when you begin planning a project you’ll find Mirela to be extremely eager to get you want you need. Throughout the build, from planning to completion we constantly had a back and forth to nail down what we were looking for. Mirela always had amazing suggestions and ideas to help solve problems to get the result we wanted. They are able to work with existing plans or plan and design the projects with you from scratch. We had solid dates for when things would happen and all of the inspections were organized and passed first time without issue. If you have specific plans or are starting from scratch they are able to help you figure it out. Mirela also has great contacts and connections for suppliers and the prices were good.
Secondly, I can’t speak highly enough of the team that carried out the work. Mirela has a great group of people and we needed all trades for the work including framing, plumbing, electrical, drywall, flooring paint and finish. The quality of the work was always great, the team were super friendly and very respectful to control dirt and dust and protect the rest of the house. They really pushed themselves HARD to get things done and get it done well. We have two indoor cats and they were careful to make sure doors were closed and areas were clean and free of nails and any other trash. They would always check if we needed a particular detail one way or another and I appreciate that Mirela would always stop by and check on the progress and quality of the work, and to update us and check if we needed anything.
I’d also mention that the level of communication was probably one of the best I’ve ever seen in terms of contractors. They created a chat group with us to coordinate when and what would be done and what the next steps were. They always worked with our availability and were always reachable and responded quickly.
Finally, the cost of the work was right and we felt that we paid the right amount for high quality results. We had itemized estimates and settled up in stages as the work was completed. We didn’t have any large up-front payments outside of a small deposit for the start of the work. This was another example of it feeling very easy and no-nonsense to work with Mirela and her team.
Overall it really felt like we were valued and listened to - and it’s extremely clear that Mirela and her team put a lot of effort to treat their customers well and continue to build a good reputation with proven high quality work. I’m happy to say I thoroughly recommend them – in fact I have already to several friends and neighbors and we’ll certainly use them again for future projects.
We had a tight timeline for completion of an upstairs bathroom and they finished right on schedule. They space available was compact and we wanted to use some of the existing drains, they accommodated all of our request's and ensured the best use of space.
We will be using MPREX again next year for our basement reno.
